What is the Invitational?

The WARMACHINE Weekend Invitational is an event to honor and showcase the nation's best players. Over the course of the year, players will have a chance to compete in a number of qualifier events around the United States. 1st place in these qualifiers will grant the winners a free ticket to WARMACHINE Weekend along with a spot in the Invitational. Although this is not a Hardcore style event, players will be expected to play at the highest standards including:

2 List(s) Required
Players must bring exactly 2 army lists. Each list requires a different warcaster or warlock.

Model/Unit Characters Restricted
Non-warcaster/warlock FA:C models and FA:C units cannot be included in more than one of a player’s lists. Remember that the epic version of a character is considered the same character.

Accelerated Time Limits (10 minute turns/ 5 minute extension)
Use the base game, turn, and extension length of the next-lower event point size.

Divide and Conquer
The TO will announce the expected number of rounds to be played at the beginning of the tournament. Divide the number of rounds to be played by the required number of lists for each player. The result (rounded down) is the number of times each list must be played during the tournament. Such events should also use the X-Round Event variant, so players know the number of rounds they have to use each list.

Hardcore Painting Required
Modeling and Painting‖ and Conversions‖ rules apply. In addition, all models must be completely painted. This means that every model must be painted with a reasonable diversity of color. Individual elements of the miniature must be distinguishable by color or shading. For instance, flesh must be a different color than hair or clothing; metal should be a different color than leather. The base is part of the model, so don't neglect it! Bases must be finished with sand or flock or otherwise modeled and painted. Models that do not meet these requirements will not be eligible for play. Whether a model is completed is the decision of the event organizer. As a general rule, if someone feels the need to justify why a model is completed, it probably isn’t.

With those high standards, come the spoils of war. The winner of the event will be given a prize package that will, among other things, include a 50 point army of their choice, a trophy, and an entry to the next year's event to defend the title.

Qualifier Locations for 2012 Invitational

The winner of each of these events will get a free pass to WMW and an invite to the Invitational Tournament. On the occasion of someone not being able to make it to WMW, the invite will be passed down to 2nd place or 3rd place. Absences at WMW will have their invite added to the last chance qualifier at WARMACHINE Weekend.
